Mike Bohnert

Mike Bohnert brings more than 30 years of experience with major integrated oil companies and the retail fuels industry. He advises clients on company sales, divestitures and acquisitions, accelerated development programs, market conversions from direct to wholesale, market withdrawals, and long-term strategic planning. Over the course of his career, Mike has managed and overseen transactions exceeding $2.7 billion, representing clients such as GE Capital, Sunoco, BP, Costco, ExxonMobil, Circle K, and Home Depot, and has been directly involved in bankruptcy liquidations for Swifty Serve and Clark Retail. He holds a B.S. in Business Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. Mike is a licensed California real estate broker and an active member of NACS, WPMA, SIGMA, and the California Fuels and Convenience Alliance.
Mike’s career in the fuels industry is deeply rooted. He was effectively born into the Mobil family—his mother began her career with Mobil in 1947 and retired after 38 years in 1985. Mike himself started working for Mobil at age 16, driving a forklift while in high school. After graduating from UC Santa Barbara, he joined Mobil’s corporate headquarters, where he spent the next decade in a variety of roles before continuing his career with ARCO.
This lifetime of industry experience ultimately led Mike to brokerage and advisory work, where he has become one of the most respected and recognized gas station executives on the West Coast, with a reputation that extends nationally. Mike received his BS in Business Economics from the University of California at Santa Barabra and an MBA in Finance. Mike received his Broker's License from Allied Business School.

James B. Cole

General Counsel

Jim is licensed to practice in all California State Courts and all of the United States District Courts of California. His legal career spans complex real estate transactions, business litigation, and contract negotiation, with particular emphasis on commercial business and property sales, acquisitions, and dispute resolution. Mr. Cole also serves as a settlement master for the Santa Barbara and Ventura Superior Courts.

Honors/Memberships/Service: Settlement Master Santa Barbara County Superior Court, Association of Southern California Defense Counsel – Former Ventura County Director, AV Rated Attorney Martindale Hubbell and Ventura County Trial Lawyers Association.

In 1992 Matt started San Diego Hotel Reservations and later expanded to Palm Springs and Phoenix. SDHR Inc. became the official hotel reservation service for The America’s Cup, two Super Bowls, and numerous city events. He served on the Boards and Committees at the SD ConVis, the Chamber, and the BBB, until he sold the company in 2003. Matt was licensed to sell real estate in 2005 and later joined forces with BridgeBilt LLC, where the company purchased, remodeled, and sold over 500 homes. Matt was primarily responsible for the capital raise of $125,000,000 to fund asset purchases. In 2012 Matt opened RES Ventures, LLC with the purpose of facilitating large block Single Family trades for companies purchasing rental homes, and non-performing residential notes. RES Ventures has successfully participated in the sale of over 1500 properties totaling over $300,000,000. Matt joined Keller Williams Real Estate in 2019. He received a BA in Business with an emphasis in Finance from the University of San Diego.

Manages operations and acquisitions across Gold Coast Energy's active listing portfolio. Oversees the full deal workflow — financial analysis, offering memoranda, purchase and sale documentation, CoStar-verified market research, and buyer campaign execution. Works directly with buyers, sellers, and brokers to keep every transaction moving from listing through close. Derek received a BS in Business Economics from the University of California at San Diego.
